DeShannon began her career as a teenager, recording demo songs in the Brill Building in New York City. She later found success as a songwriter, penning hits for artists like Brenda Lee and The Searchers. DeShannon also had a successful solo career, releasing a string of chart-topping singles and albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010, recognizing her talent and impact on the music industry.
