Jackie Wilson, born in 1934, was an influential American singer known for his four-octave vocal range and dynamic stage presence. He was a prominent figure in the transition from rhythm and blues to soul music in the 1950s and 1960s. Wilson had a string of hits, including "Lonely Teardrops," "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher," and "Reet Petite." He was also known for his electrifying live performances, often incorporating acrobatics and dance moves into his shows. Wilson's music and performances had a significant impact on future generations of artists, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Tragically, Wilson's career was cut short in 1975 when he suffered a heart attack onstage, leaving him in a coma until his death in 1984.
