Wilson was also known for his dynamic stage presence and smooth dance moves, influencing future generations of performers such as Michael Jackson. Despite his success, Wilson faced personal challenges, including struggles with drug addiction and legal issues. In 1984, he suffered a heart attack while performing on stage and fell into a coma from which he never fully recovered. Wilson passed away on January 21, 1984, leaving behind a legacy as a charismatic and influential artist in the history of soul music.
