Jackie Wilson was an American singer known for his powerful voice and energetic stage presence. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, and began his music career as a member of the R&B group Billy Ward and His Dominoes. Wilson later embarked on a successful solo career, earning the nickname "Mr. Excitement" for his dynamic performances. He was known for hits such as "Lonely Teardrops," "Higher and Higher," and "Reet Petite."

Wilson was a pioneer in the transition from rhythm and blues to soul music in the 1950s and 1960s. He had a string of chart-topping singles and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
