Artist Bio:
Jackie Wilson was an American singer known for his powerful voice and energetic performances in the genres of R&B, soul, and rock and roll. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, and began his music career as a member of the vocal group The Dominoes before launching a successful solo career. Wilson's hits included songs like "Lonely Teardrops," "Higher and Higher," and "To Be Loved."

Wilson was known for his dynamic stage presence and impressive vocal range, often referred to as "Mr. Excitement" for his electrifying performances. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and his influence can be heard in the music of later artists such as Michael Jackson and Prince. Sadly, Wilson's career was cut short in 1975 when he suffered a heart attack while performing on stage, leaving him in a coma until his death in 1984 at the age of 49.
