Jackie Wilson was an American singer known for his powerful voice and dynamic stage presence. Born on June 9, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, Wilson began his music career as a member of the R&B group Billy Ward and His Dominoes. He later embarked on a successful solo career, scoring hits with songs like "Reet Petite," "Lonely Teardrops," and "Higher and Higher."
Wilson was known for his energetic live performances and smooth vocal delivery, earning him the nickname "Mr. Excitement." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and is considered one of the most influential artists in the development of soul and R&B music. Wilson's career was tragically cut short when he suffered a heart attack on stage in 1975, leaving him in a coma until his death in 1984 at the age of 49.
