Jackie Wilson was an American singer known as one of the most dynamic and influential performers in the history of rhythm and blues and rock and roll music. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, and began his music career as a member of the R&B vocal group Billy Ward and His Dominoes. Wilson achieved great success as a solo artist in the late 1950s and 1960s, with hits such as "Lonely Teardrops," "Reet Petite," and "Higher and Higher."
Wilson was known for his impressive vocal range, energetic stage presence, and smooth dance moves, earning him the nickname "Mr. Excitement." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Wilson's career was tragically cut short in 1975 when he suffered a heart attack while performing on stage, leaving him in a coma until his death in 1984.
