Jackie Wilson was an American singer known for his dynamic stage presence and powerful voice. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, and began his music career as a member of the R&B group Billy Ward and His Dominoes. Wilson later pursued a solo career and became known as one of the most influential artists in the development of soul music in the 1950s and 1960s.
Wilson's hits include "Reet Petite," "Lonely Teardrops," and "Higher and Higher." He was known for his energetic live performances and smooth vocals, earning him the nickname "Mr. Excitement." Wilson's music had a significant impact on the Motown sound and influenced many artists who came after him. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Tragically, Wilson suffered a heart attack on stage in 1975, which left him in a coma until his death in 1984 at the age of 49.
