Jackie Wilson, born in 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, was an American soul singer known for his dynamic stage presence and powerful voice. He began his music career in the 1950s as a member of the R&B group Billy Ward and His Dominoes before launching a successful solo career. Wilson's hits include "Lonely Teardrops," "That's Why (I Love You So)," and "Higher and Higher." He was known for his energetic live performances and was often referred to as "Mr. Excitement." Wilson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Tragically, he suffered a heart attack on stage in 1975, which left him in a coma until his death in 1984.
