James Booker was an American pianist and singer known for his unique blend of jazz, rhythm and blues, and classical music. Born in New Orleans in 1939, Booker began playing piano at a young age and quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso musician. He was influenced by the city's rich musical traditions, including jazz, blues, and gospel, and became a prominent figure in the local music scene.


Booker's playing style was characterized by his technical prowess, improvisational skills, and flamboyant stage presence. He recorded several albums throughout his career, including "Junco Partner" and "Classified," which showcased his eclectic musical influences. Despite struggling with drug addiction and mental health issues, Booker continued to perform and record music until his death in 1983. He is remembered as a pioneering figure in New Orleans music history and a master of the piano.
