James Brown and The Famous Flames were an American musical group led by the legendary singer James Brown. Formed in 1953, the group was originally known as The Flames with Brown as a member, but they later became known as James Brown and The Famous Flames. The Famous Flames were known for their energetic live performances and their influential contributions to the development of funk music.
The group's most famous lineup consisted of James Brown on lead vocals, Bobby Byrd on organ and backing vocals, Bobby Bennett and Lloyd Stallworth on backing vocals, and Johnny Terry on drums. Some of their biggest hits include "Please, Please, Please," "Try Me," and "I Got You (I Feel Good)." James Brown and The Famous Flames were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, recognizing their significant impact on the world of music.
