James Brown and The Famous Flames were an American soul and R&B group formed in Toccoa, Georgia in the 1950s. The group was fronted by the iconic singer James Brown, who is often referred to as the "Godfather of Soul" for his influence on the genre. The Famous Flames consisted of vocalists and musicians who played an integral role in Brown's energetic live performances and recordings.


The group's most successful period was in the 1960s, during which they produced several hit songs including "Please, Please, Please" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)". Their music was characterized by a unique blend of soul, funk, and rhythm and blues, and they were known for their tight musical arrangements and dynamic stage presence.
