James Darren is an American actor, director, and singer, born on June 8, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his role as Moondoggie in the 1959 film "Gidget" and for his portrayal of Tony Newman in the science fiction television series "The Time Tunnel" which aired from 1966 to 1967. Darren also gained popularity for his role as Officer Jim Corrigan in the television series "T.J. Hooker" alongside William Shatner.
In addition to his acting career, James Darren has released several albums as a singer, including "This One's from the Heart" and "Because of You." He has also made guest appearances on various television shows and has directed episodes for series such as "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills, 90210." Darren continues to be active in the entertainment industry, with a career spanning over six decades.
