The James Gang was an American rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1966. The band's original lineup consisted of guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Tom Kriss, and drummer Jim Fox. They gained popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s with their blues-rock sound and energetic live performances.
In 1971, Joe Walsh left the James Gang to pursue a solo career and was replaced by guitarists Domenic Troiano and later Tommy Bolin. The band released a total of seven studio albums before disbanding in 1976. Despite several lineup changes throughout their career, the James Gang is best known for their hit songs "Funk #49" and "Walk Away." They were influential in the development of hard rock and are remembered as one of the pioneering bands of the genre.
