She began her career as a child performer and later achieved success as a vocalist in the jazz, R&B, and pop genres. Austin has released over 20 albums and worked with renowned artists such as Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, and Luther Vandross. She has received multiple Grammy nominations and won her first Grammy Award in 2008 for her album "Avant Gershwin."
