He began his music career in the 1970s as a session musician, playing keyboards and singing background vocals. In the 1980s, he gained widespread recognition for his solo music career, with hits such as "Just Once," "One Hundred Ways," and "Baby, Come to Me."


Ingram collaborated with various artists, including Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, and Anita Baker. He won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Vocal Performance in 1981 and 1984. Throughout his career, Ingram released several successful albums and singles, showcasing his soulful voice and versatile musical style. James Ingram passed away on January 29, 2019, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
