Artist Bio:
Jan & Dean were an American rock duo consisting of William Jan Berry and Dean Ormsby Torrence. They were prominent in the 1960s and best known for their surf music and vocal harmonies. The duo met while attending high school in Los Angeles and began performing together, eventually signing a record deal with Liberty Records.
Jan & Dean achieved commercial success with hits such as "Surf City," "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena," and "Dead Man's Curve." They were part of the California surf music scene and often collaborated with other artists such as the Beach Boys. In 1966, Jan Berry was seriously injured in a car accident, which led to a decline in the duo's popularity. Despite this setback, Jan & Dean continued to perform and record music until Jan Berry's death in 2004. They are remembered as influential figures in the surf rock genre.
