Jan & Dean were an American rock duo consisting of Jan Berry and Dean Torrence. They found success in the early 1960s with their surf music hits, including "Surf City," which became their only number one single in 1963. The duo's music was known for its harmonies and catchy melodies, often celebrating the beach and surfing culture that was popular at the time.
In 1966, Jan Berry was involved in a serious car accident that left him with brain damage and impaired motor skills. Despite this setback, Jan & Dean continued to perform and record music, although their commercial success waned. Jan Berry passed away in 2004, but Dean Torrence continues to perform as a solo artist and keeps the legacy of Jan & Dean alive through live performances and re-releases of their music.
