Jan & Dean were an American rock duo consisting of Jan Berry and Dean Torrence. They found success in the early 1960s with their surf music hits, including "Surf City" and "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena." They were known for their close harmony vocals and catchy melodies, which helped them become popular figures in the surf rock genre.
The duo's career was interrupted in 1966 when Jan Berry was seriously injured in a car accident, leaving him with ongoing health issues. Despite this setback, Jan & Dean continued to perform and record music sporadically over the years. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2008 in recognition of their contributions to music. Jan & Dean's music continues to be celebrated for its fun, upbeat sound and its influence on the surf rock genre.
