Artist Bio:
Jan & Dean were an American rock duo popular in the 1960s. The duo consisted of Jan Berry and Dean Torrence, who met while attending high school in Los Angeles. They are best known for their surf music and harmonizing vocals. Some of their most famous songs include "Surf City," "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena," and "Dead Man's Curve." Jan & Dean were one of the pioneering acts of the California sound, along with groups like the Beach Boys.
Tragically, Jan Berry was seriously injured in a car accident in 1966, which left him with brain damage and affected his ability to continue performing. Despite this setback, Jan & Dean's music continued to be popular, and they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2008. Their influence on the surf rock genre and their catchy, upbeat tunes have cemented their place in music history.
