Artist Bio:
Janis Joplin was an American singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1960s as the lead singer of the psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. Born on January 19, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Joplin's raw, powerful voice and emotional delivery made her one of the most distinctive and influential singers of her era. She was known for her blues-inspired rock music and charismatic stage presence.

Joplin's career was tragically cut short when she died of a heroin overdose on October 4, 1970, at the age of 27. Despite her short career, she left a lasting impact on the music industry, influencing generations of singers with her unique vocal style and fearless approach to performing. Joplin was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, cementing her status as one of the greatest female rock singers of all time.
