Jay & The Americans are an American rock band formed in 1961. The original lineup consisted of members Jay Black, Kenny Vance, Sandy Deanne, Howie Kirschenbaum, and Marty Sanders. They are best known for their hits in the 1960s, including "She Cried," "Come a Little Bit Closer," and "This Magic Moment."


The band's sound is characterized by their harmonies and doo-wop influences. Jay & The Americans have had multiple lineup changes over the years, with Jay Black being the most prominent lead singer. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002 and continue to perform and tour, with Jay Black as the lead vocalist.
