Jay & The Americans were an American rock group formed in 1960 in Queens, New York. The band's original members were Jay Traynor, Howard Kane, Kenny Vance, and Sandy Deanne. They are best known for their hits in the 1960s, including "She Cried," "Come a Little Bit Closer," and "Cara Mia."
The group's sound was a mix of doo-wop, rock and roll, and pop music. They achieved commercial success with several top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Jay & The Americans were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002. Throughout the years, the band underwent several lineup changes, with various members coming and going, but they continued to perform and tour, keeping their music alive for fans of 1960s rock and roll.
