Artist Bio:
Jay & The Americans were a pop rock group formed in 1961 in New York City. The original members were Jay Traynor, Howard Kirschenbaum, Kenny Vance, and Sandy Deanne. However, Jay Traynor was replaced by Jay Black in 1962, after which the group achieved their greatest success.
The band is best known for their hit songs in the 1960s, including "She Cried," "Come a Little Bit Closer," and "Cara Mia." They were known for their smooth harmonies and romantic ballads, which earned them a loyal following. Jay & The Americans continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with several lineup changes. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.
