Jay & The Americans were an American rock group formed in 1961 in New York City. The band's original lineup consisted of Jay Black as the lead singer, Howard Kane on guitar and vocals, Kenny Vance on keyboards and vocals, and Sandy Deanne on drums. They were known for their doo-wop and pop rock sound, and their music often featured rich harmonies and catchy melodies.
The group found success in the 1960s with hit songs such as "She Cried," "Come a Little Bit Closer," and "Cara Mia." They were also known for their cover of "This Magic Moment," which became one of their signature songs. Jay & The Americans continued to perform and record music throughout the decades, with various lineup changes, and they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.
