Artist Bio:
Jeanne Black was an American country music singer born on May 25, 1937, in Pomona, California. She gained popularity in the late 1950s and early 1960s with her hit song "He'll Have to Stay," which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1960. The song was a response to Jim Reeves' popular tune "He'll Have to Go," and it became her signature song. Black's success with "He'll Have to Stay" led to appearances on popular television shows of the time, such as American Bandstand and The Ed Sullivan Show.
Despite the initial success of "He'll Have to Stay," Jeanne Black never achieved another major hit in her music career. She continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s but eventually faded from the music scene. Jeanne Black's legacy lies primarily in her distinctive voice and the impact of "He'll Have to Stay" as a classic country music song.
