Artist Bio:
Jerry Butler is an American soul singer and songwriter born on December 8, 1939, in Sunflower, Mississippi. He is known for his smooth, emotive voice and has been dubbed the "Iceman" for his cool demeanor. Butler began his music career in the late 1950s as a member of the R&B vocal group The Impressions, before launching a successful solo career in the 1960s.


Throughout his career, Butler released numerous hit songs, including "He Will Break Your Heart," "Only the Strong Survive," and "Never Give You Up." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. In addition to his music career, Butler has also been involved in politics, serving as a Cook County Commissioner in Illinois.
