Artist Bio:
Jerry Butler is an American soul singer, songwriter, and musician who was born on December 8, 1939, in Sunflower, Mississippi. He is known for his smooth and distinctive voice, which earned him the nickname "The Iceman." Butler rose to fame in the 1960s as a member of the R&B group The Impressions, where he was both a lead vocalist and songwriter.


After leaving The Impressions, Butler embarked on a successful solo career, releasing hit songs such as "He Will Break Your Heart," "Only the Strong Survive," and "Never Give You Up." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and continues to perform and record music to this day. In addition to his music career, Butler has also been involved in politics and served as a commissioner for Cook County, Illinois.
