Artist Bio:
Jerry Butler is an American soul singer and songwriter who was born on December 8, 1939, in Sunflower, Mississippi. He is best known for his smooth and emotive voice, which earned him the nickname "The Iceman." Butler first rose to fame as a member of the R&B vocal group The Impressions in the late 1950s, where he sang lead on many of their hits including "For Your Precious Love."


In the 1960s, Butler embarked on a successful solo career, releasing a string of hits such as "He Will Break Your Heart" and "Only the Strong Survive." He also became known for his activism, using his platform to advocate for civil rights and social justice. Butler was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Impressions in 1991, and he continues to perform and record music to this day.
