Jerry Reed, born Jerry Reed Hubbard on March 20, 1937, was an American country music singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was known for his unique blend of country, rock, and blues music, as well as his distinctive fingerpicking guitar style. Reed rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Guitar Man," "When You're Hot, You're Hot," and "East Bound and Down." He was also a talented actor, appearing in several films including "Smokey and the Bandit" alongside Burt Reynolds.


Reed was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017, recognizing his significant contributions to the country music genre. Throughout his career, he won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance for his song "Sneakin' Around" with Chet Atkins. Jerry Reed passed away on September 1, 2008, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of country music.
