Jimmy Barnes, born James Dixon Swan on April 28, 1956, is a Scottish-Australian rock singer and songwriter. He is best known for being the lead vocalist of the rock band Cold Chisel, which was highly successful in Australia during the 1970s and 1980s. Barnes has also had a successful solo career, releasing numerous albums that have topped the Australian charts. He is known for his powerful and soulful voice, which has earned him a reputation as one of the greatest rock singers in Australia.
In addition to his music career, Jimmy Barnes has also written several books, including his autobiography "Working Class Boy" which details his tough upbringing and rise to fame in the music industry. He has won multiple ARIA Awards, the Australian equivalent of the Grammy Awards, and has been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame both as a solo artist and as a member of Cold Chisel. Barnes continues to tour and record music, maintaining a loyal fan base in Australia and beyond.
