Jimmy Clanton is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was born on September 2, 1938, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Clanton is best known for his hit songs such as "Just A Dream" and "Venus in Blue Jeans," which both reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He was one of the few white artists to achieve success in the R&B genre during that time.
Clanton's music career began when he signed with Ace Records in 1957, and he quickly gained popularity with his smooth vocals and romantic ballads. He continued to release music throughout the 1960s and beyond, performing at various oldies music festivals and events. Clanton was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2017, recognizing his contributions to the music industry.
