Jimmy Jones was an American singer-songwriter who was born on June 2, 1937, in Birmingham, Alabama. He is best known for his hit song "Handy Man," which was released in 1959 and reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was later covered by James Taylor in 1977, reaching number 4 on the same chart.


Jones started his music career in the 1950s, recording for various labels including Cub Records and MGM Records. In addition to "Handy Man," he had other minor hits such as "Good Timin'" and "That's When I Cried." Jones continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, but never achieved the same level of success as he did with "Handy Man." He passed away on August 2, 2012, leaving behind a legacy as a talented artist who made a mark on the music industry with his unique sound.
