Jimmy McCracklin was an American rhythm and blues musician and songwriter. He was born on August 13, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away on December 20, 2012 in San Pablo, California. McCracklin was known for his energetic piano playing and distinctive vocal style. He started his music career in the 1940s and gained popularity in the 1950s with hits like "The Walk" and "Just Got to Know". McCracklin was also a prolific songwriter, penning many of his own songs as well as tunes recorded by other artists. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1983.
