McGriff is known for his distinctive style of playing the Hammond B-3 organ, which combined elements of jazz, blues, and soul music. He was a pioneer of the jazz-funk genre and was influential in shaping the sound of jazz organ in the 1960s and 1970s.
McGriff released over 50 albums during his career and is best known for his hit songs "All About My Girl" and "I've Got a Woman." He collaborated with many other notable musicians, including Groove Holmes, Richard "Groove" Holmes, and Hank Crawford. McGriff's music continues to be celebrated for its soulful and funky sound, and he remains a respected figure in the history of jazz and blues music.
