J.J. Fad is an American hip-hop group formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, California. The group consists of members Juana Burns, Dania Birks, and Michelle Franklin. J.J. Fad is best known for their hit single "Supersonic," which was released in 1988 and became a major success, peaking at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
"Supersonic" was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella of N.W.A, and it was the first single by a female rap group to be certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The group's debut album, also titled "Supersonic," was released in 1988 and received positive reviews. J.J. Fad's impact on the hip-hop scene, particularly as one of the first successful all-female rap groups, has solidified their place in music history.
