Artist Bio:
Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He was born in 1913 and passed away in 2011. Simon is best known for co-creating the iconic superhero Captain America with artist Jack Kirby in 1941, which became one of the most enduring and recognizable characters in comic book history. Simon and Kirby also collaborated on other popular characters such as the Sandman and the Newsboy Legion during the Golden Age of Comic Books.
Throughout his career, Joe Simon worked for various comic book publishers including Timely Comics (which later became Marvel Comics) and DC Comics. He also co-founded his own publishing company, Mainline Publications, in the 1950s. Simon was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 1999 for his significant contributions to the comic book industry and his enduring legacy as a pioneering writer and artist.
