Joe Simon was an American artist and writer who was born on October 11, 1913, in Rochester, New York, and passed away on December 14, 2011. He is best known for his work in the comic book industry, where he co-created the iconic superhero character Captain America with Jack Kirby in 1940. Simon also played a significant role in creating other memorable characters such as the Sandman and the Newsboy Legion.


Throughout his career, Joe Simon worked for several comic book publishers, including Timely Comics (which later became Marvel Comics), DC Comics, and Harvey Comics. He also served as the first editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine "Sick" in the 1960s. Simon's contributions to the comic book industry have had a lasting impact, and he is remembered as a pioneer in the field of superhero comics.
