Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He is best known for co-creating the superhero character Captain America with Jack Kirby in 1940. Simon and Kirby's creation of Captain America became one of the most iconic and enduring characters in comic book history. Simon also worked on other popular characters such as the Sandman and the Boy Commandos during the Golden Age of comic books.
In addition to his work in the comic book industry, Joe Simon was also a successful editor and publisher. He co-founded the company Harvey Comics in 1941, which went on to produce a variety of popular comic book series.
