Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher, born on October 11, 1913, and passed away on December 14, 2011. He is best known for co-creating the iconic superhero character Captain America with Jack Kirby in 1940, which became one of the most enduring and recognizable superheroes in comic book history. Simon and Kirby also collaborated on other popular characters such as the Sandman and the Newsboy Legion during the Golden Age of Comics.
In addition to his work with Marvel Comics, Joe Simon also had a successful career at DC Comics and other publishers, where he continued to create memorable characters and stories. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to the comic book industry and left a lasting legacy as one of the pioneering figures in American comics.
