Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He was born on October 11, 1913, in Rochester, New York, and passed away on December 14, 2011, at the age of 98. Simon is best known for co-creating the iconic superhero character Captain America with artist Jack Kirby in 1940. The character made his debut in Captain America Comics #1, published by Timely Comics, which later became Marvel Comics.
In addition to Captain America, Joe Simon worked on other notable comic book characters and titles, including the romance comic book genre with titles like Young Romance and Young Love. Simon made significant contributions to the comic book industry during the Golden Age of Comics, and his work continues to influence creators and entertain audiences around the world.
