Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He was born in 1913 in Rochester, New York, and he started his career in the comic book industry in the 1940s. Simon is best known for co-creating the iconic superhero character Captain America with artist Jack Kirby in 1940. The character first appeared in Captain America Comics #1, published by Timely Comics, which later became Marvel Comics.
In addition to Captain America, Joe Simon also worked on other popular comic book characters such as the Sandman, the Boy Commandos, and Fighting American. He had a significant impact on the comic book industry and is considered one of the pioneers of the medium. Joe Simon passed away in 2011 at the age of 98, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of comic books.
