Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He was born on October 11, 1913, in Rochester, New York, and passed away on December 14, 2011, in New York City. Simon is best known for co-creating the iconic superhero character Captain America with artist Jack Kirby in 1940, during the Golden Age of comic books. The character quickly became a popular and enduring figure in the comic book world.


In addition to Captain America, Joe Simon worked on various other comic book titles and characters throughout his career, including creating the character of the Fighting American. He also served as the first editor of Timely Comics, which would later evolve into Marvel Comics. Simon's contributions to the comic book industry have had a lasting impact, and he is remembered as a key figure in the development of the superhero genre.
