Artist Bio:
Joe Simon was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He was born on October 11, 1913, in Rochester, New York, and passed away on December 14, 2011. Simon is best known for co-creating the iconic superhero character Captain America with artist Jack Kirby in 1940. The character first appeared in "Captain America Comics" #1 published by Timely Comics, which later became Marvel Comics. Simon and Kirby also worked on other popular titles such as "The Sandman" and "Newsboy Legion."


In addition to his work in the comic book industry, Joe Simon also served as the first editor at Timely Comics, where he helped shape the early days of the superhero genre. He later went on to co-found the company Mainline Publications and created his own publishing company, Sicklesmith. Simon's contributions to the world of comic books have had a lasting impact on the industry, and his work continues to be celebrated by fans and creators alike.
