Joe South was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born Joseph Alfred Souter on February 28, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia. He achieved success as a solo artist in the 1960s and 1970s, known for his hit songs "Games People Play" and "Walk a Mile in My Shoes". South was also a sought-after songwriter, penning hits for artists like Billy Joe Royal, Lynn Anderson, and Elvis Presley.


In the late 1980s, Joe South formed a band called The Believers. The Believers consisted of South on vocals and guitar, as well as other musicians who collaborated with him on various projects. Together, they performed live and recorded music, showcasing South's talents as a performer and songwriter. The Believers helped keep South's music alive and introduced his work to new audiences.
