Artist Bio:
Joe South was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his 1960s and 1970s hits, including "Games People Play" and "Rose Garden." He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1940 and began his music career as a songwriter, penning hits for artists like Billy Joe Royal and Lynn Anderson. South's music often touched on social issues and personal struggles, earning him critical acclaim and commercial success.
In the early 1980s, Joe South formed a band called The Believers, which included members such as bassist David Hood and drummer Roger Hawkins from the famed Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. The group released an album titled "So the Seeds are Growing" in 1981, featuring South's songwriting and distinctive Southern rock sound. Despite the album's quality, it did not achieve significant commercial success, and The Believers disbanded shortly after its release. Joe South continued to work as a musician and songwriter until his death in 2012.
