John Denver, born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. on December 31, 1943, was an American singer-songwriter, actor, and activist. He was known for his folk and country music, with hits such as "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Annie's Song," and "Rocky Mountain High." Denver released over 300 songs during his career, and his music often celebrated nature, environmentalism, and his love for the Rocky Mountains.
In addition to his music career, Denver was actively involved in humanitarian and environmental causes. He co-founded the charitable organization Windstar Foundation and testified before Congress on environmental issues. Denver tragically died in a plane crash on October 12, 1997, at the age of 53. Despite his untimely death, his music continues to resonate with audiences around the world, and he is remembered as one of the iconic voices of the 1970s music scene.
