John Denver, born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. on December 31, 1943, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. He was known for his folk and country music, and his songs often celebrated the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains, where he lived for much of his life. Denver's music career took off in the 1970s with hits like "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Annie's Song," and "Rocky Mountain High."
Denver's music was characterized by his soothing tenor voice and heartfelt lyrics, which resonated with audiences around the world. He won numerous awards throughout his career, including several Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1996.
