John Parr is a British musician and songwriter born on November 18, 1954, in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England. He is best known for his hit single "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)", which was the theme song for the 1985 film "St. Elmo's Fire." The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States and earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.


Aside from his success with "St. Elmo's Fire," John Parr has released several albums throughout his career, including "John Parr" (1984), "Running the Endless Mile" (1986), and "Man with a Vision" (1992). He has also contributed music to various soundtracks and collaborated with other artists.
