Artist Bio:
John Stewart (1939-2008) was an American singer-songwriter best known for his work with the folk-rock group The Kingston Trio. Stewart joined the group in 1961, replacing founding member Dave Guard, and went on to write and perform on several of their albums. He also achieved success as a solo artist, releasing over 45 solo albums during his career. Stewart is perhaps best known for his hit song "Gold," which reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1979.


In addition to his music career, Stewart was also a talented songwriter, penning songs for artists such as Rosanne Cash, Anne Murray, and Joan Baez. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019. Stewart's music is characterized by his storytelling lyrics and his ability to blend elements of folk, rock, and country music into his unique sound.
